Tiruchirappalli International Airport is located in the state of Tamil Nadu, India. It is situated about 5 kilometers (3 miles) south of the city center of Tiruchirappalli. It is an international airport  of india. It is located on National Highway 336, about 5 km south of the trichy city centre . It is the 31st busiest airport in India for airport passengers handled. And then 33rd busiest for total aircraft movement of india.It is the fourth-largest airport in Tamil Nadu.

The airport has two integrated terminal that caters to both domestic and international flights. Facilities at the airport include check-in counters, customs and immigration services, baggage services, lounges, duty-free shops, and dining options.

1. Integrated passenger terminal:

It was inaugurated on 21 February 2009 with handling capacity of 0.49 million passengers per annum and peak hour capacity of 470 passengers. Some of the features:

  • 12 Check-In Counters
  • 4 Custom Counters (1 departure + 3 arrival)
  • 16 Immigration Counters (8 departure + 8 arrival)
  • 3 Conveyor Belts (47 m (154 ft) each)
  • 1 Baggage Assistance Counter
  • 1 Health Officer Counter
  • 5 X-ray Scanners for Baggage (3 for registered baggages and 2 for hand baggages)
  • 4 Security Check Units
  • 210 CISF Strength
  • Total aircraft stands = 7
    • 3 for code D aircraft
    • 4 for code C aircraft
  • 3 Aerobridges
  • Parking Space for 300 vehicles

The integrated terminal has two lounges, VIP lounge managed by AAI and commercial important persons (CIP) lounge also managed by AAI.

2.  New integrated passenger terminal

The terminal building will be equipped with 48 check-in counters and 10 boarding bridges.
 AAI expects and it has been designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours.

  • 48 check-in centers
  • 3 customs centers
  • 15 x-ray screening centers 
  • 10 aero bridge facilities
  • VIP waiting rooms at 3 locations, lift and escalator at 26 locations
  • Parking facilities for 1,000 cars.
  • Paintings have been drawn focusing on Tamil Nadu’s culture, tradition and festivals.
  • A model tower like the Srirangam Rajagopuram stands on the facade of the new terminal to catch the eye of onlookers

The roof of the airport is designed to generate electricity through solar energy.
